So, you've decided to start therapy. Congratulations! This is a big step, and it's one that can have a profound impact on your life. But now comes the tricky part: finding the right therapist for your needs.

There are a lot of therapists out there, and they all have different approaches. Some are more talk-therapy focused, while others use more specific techniques like CBT (Cognitive beahvior therapy) or DBT (Dialectical behavior therapy) *more on these on later posts. Some are more traditional, while others are more progressive. And some are just plain weird :-)

So how do you find the right therapist for you? Here are a few tips:

Embrace Your Inner Goldilocks: Just like porridge, therapy is NOT a one-size-fits-all situation. So, be a discerning critic! Don't settle for a therapist who's too cold or too hot; aim for the one that feels just right.

Do the Detective Work: Sleuth your way through the digital realm. Check out therapists' websites, read reviews, and creep their social media profiles (we won't judge). You might uncover clues that will help you find your perfect mental match.

Compatibility Is Key: Finding the right therapist is like finding a partner, minus the candlelit dinners. Look for someone who vibes with you, understands your quirks, and gets your unique brand of crazy. Chemistry matters, folks!

Shop Around: Don't be afraid to play the field! Just like with shoes, you might need to try on a few therapists before you find the one that fits like a comfortable slipper. Your mental health is worth the extra legwork!

It's a Two-Way Street: Therapy is not a spectator sport; it's an interactive dance. Find a therapist who encourages your participation, values your input, and doesn't mind the occasional awkward dance move.

Don't Be Afraid to Break Up: If you discover that your therapist is about as helpful as a chocolate teapot or as understanding as a cat on a leash, it's time to say, "It's not you, it's me" and move on. Trust your gut and don't settle for less than you deserve!

Patience, Young Padawan: Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, and therapy is no different. It takes time to build a rapport and see results. So, keep calm and trust the process. The mental growth spurt is worth the wait!

Finding the right therapist can be a challenge, but it's worth it. The right therapist can help you make lasting changes in your life. So don't give up until you find someone who's a good fit for you.

And remember, if you don't click with your first therapist, that's okay. There are plenty of other therapists out there. Just keep looking until you find someone who you feel comfortable with.

So don't be afraid to put in the work to find the right therapist for you. It's one of the best investments you can make in your mental health. we got you booboo! #mentalhealthmatters
